The importance of physical activity

Changing your diet it’s just one, usually done first, aspect of your lifestyle switch. Once you stop eating meat and start giving your body food grown in natural (organic) way, your whole mentality is going to alter. You will start thinking clearly and will be able to deeply understand the surrounding world more. Some of it comes down to you paying more attention to your own needs and allocating more time for yourself, which is very often overlooked in our busy lives. The next step should be maintaining some level of physical activities. It ought to become a very important part of your daily routine, to ensure you remain healthy physically, mentally and spiritually.

yogaI would highly recommend yoga, as it can be catered to any fitness level and it offers spiritual/mental exercises in meditation.

The benefits of yoga and meditation are endless, some of them are listed in the following articles

If you have already tried yoga (or not) and decided that it is not for you, you may wish to revisit meditation without the daily yoga exercises. You can start with a guided meditation, there is a lot of videos on YouTube, such as
30-minutes Night Time Meditation (with verbal instructions)
or
10-minutes Morning Meditation (music only)

If you are struggling with consistency and self discipline, there is another 21-Day Medication Challenge by Deepak starting soon, as I already mentioned in my other entry about yoga. It will help to motivate you to meditate every day for 3 weeks and if you can do that, you won’t stop after!
It’s completely free, so why you don’t sign up today…

Mediation practice is very personal and there is no right or wrong way of doing it. This also applies to the time of your daily mediation, some people prefer to do it in the morning, other at night before bed. It is also recommended by some to meditate whenever you are stresses or at the end of your working day. Some people would need to use ‘mantra’ when they first start mediating on their own, the other will be using it every time they meditate.

Another physical activity worth trying is pilates  It is slightly different to yoga and concentrates on physical conditioning with a specific focus on core strength. This contrasts with yoga which is primarily a spiritual experience and flexibility exercise.

walkingYou may also wish to consider swimmingrunning or cycling. They are all good, all-round exercises. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to take on any of the above, try simple walking. Just 30-40 minutes of brisk walking few times per week can make a real difference to your health and your mood. You may wish to read more about other benefits of walking, covered by this article.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, continue to improve your awareness by healthy nutrition, spiritual growth and physical fitness.
